ASPEN Metal and Mining

About ASPEN

Our Approach

We Start With the Project — Not With a Product

We start with the project

Every mineral deposit, processing plant and metallurgical operation is different.

  • Feed characteristics differ
  • Infrastructure differs
  • Energy and water conditions differ
  • Environmental requirements differ
  • Capital constraints differ
  • Strategic objectives differ

That is why ASPEN does not begin with a predetermined technology or equipment package. We begin with the project.

How we work

01

Understand

We first understand the resource, feed, existing facilities, infrastructure, market conditions, project objectives and constraints.

02

Evaluate

We examine alternative process routes, technologies, equipment configurations and execution strategies from both technical and economic perspectives.

03

Integrate

We bring together the appropriate engineering disciplines, technology providers, equipment manufacturers and specialist partners for the specific project.

04

Deliver

We establish clear project controls across engineering, procurement, cost, schedule, quality, construction and commissioning.

05

Optimize

Our involvement does not necessarily end at mechanical completion. We support start-up, ramp-up, troubleshooting, debottlenecking and optimization to help the asset achieve its intended performance.

Independent by design

Technology selection is one of the most important decisions in any metallurgical project.

ASPEN’s independent position allows us to assess alternative technologies and suppliers based on what best serves the project — considering technical performance, reference plants, CAPEX, OPEX, reliability, maintainability, environmental performance, local conditions and lifecycle value.

The objective is not to select the most impressive technology. It is to select the right solution for the project.

Designed with operations in mind

A plant is not successful simply because it is constructed. It is successful when it operates safely, reliably and economically and consistently achieves its design objectives.

For this reason, ASPEN considers operability, maintainability, energy efficiency, environmental performance, availability and lifecycle economics from the early stages of project development.

We engineer projects with the end in mind: operation.

Our principles

Independent Thinking

We evaluate solutions objectively and protect the owner’s technical and commercial interests.

Technical Integrity

Engineering decisions must be supported by sound technical reasoning and real operating experience.

Fit-for-Purpose Solutions

The best solution is not necessarily the most complex. It is the solution that best matches the project’s technical, economic and operational realities.

Lifecycle Perspective

CAPEX matters. OPEX matters. Reliability, maintainability, environmental performance and asset life matter equally.

Clear Accountability

Complex projects require clearly defined responsibilities, interfaces, schedules and decision-making processes.

Partnership

We work as an extension of the owner’s project team rather than simply as an external service provider.
